Relaxation

I had a great weekend. It started by using my very generous gift certificate to the new Ritz Cartlon Spa on Saturday morning. Totally luxurious--you don't even have to calculate tip--they will do it for you! Since I don't have any photos of that experience (I think they frown on photos...), I am posting some photos of my more homemaker-esque activities.

Making the best Christmas cookies of all times: Snowballs.

Lucas wanted to help.

I made one more ornament yesterday because I wanted to try finishing it myself. Not great, but not terrible. The best part was that the linen I used was glittery to begin with. Plus, we have a clear lack of Mistletoe in our house, so here was my solution:

Christmas in CO

We put up all our Christmas decorations this week, since we will be gone for the week of Christmas.

Mom made the Santa above.
These Santas came from Russia, but it turns out you can get them in Georgetown, CO as well (but they are no where near as cool!)

I made that little blue tree.

I made this little stocking too!

And that blue snowflake ornament.

And the Dachshund ornament...

and the cupcakes...

And the wreath ornament too. I love the blue Rockefeller Center ornament. I bought that over Mother's Day weekend in NYC.

I made that little santa too!

The strawberry above was a gift from the Columbine Chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild (I'm a member!).

Mom started those birds years ago, and I finished them for her this summer! Oh, and Matt and I made those wine cork ornaments too.

That little candelabra was a find at a junk store.

I'm a Nerd

Here are some of the things that I have been working on this fall and winter.

This is for Jenn's new little girl, Madeleine.

I took a class to do this one. It is a frame weight (used in sewing), but I am using it as a paperweight.

My favorite things to sew are Christmas decorations

Thanksgiving Decorations

Thanks to Matt's mom, Pattie, for our lovely Thanksgiving decorations. They have been safely tucked away until next year, but here are some of the photos from earlier this winter.

Lucas Being Lucas

Lucas has taken to scratching at the front door. Enter the "Puppy Defender"!

Matt's New Best Friend

Look what Matt did on Black Friday...

Thanksgiving, a little late

Matt and I spent Thanksgiving in a $5M ski-condo in Vail. The luxury of this place was lost on me. Personally, I would like to be a little farther than 10 feet from the bottom of an avalanche-prone 11,000 foot mountain.

On Thanksgiving, we were supposed to go snow-shoeing--this would have been my first time. Thankfully, it didn't snow and all we could do was take a walk around town. Check out the big horn sheep statue:

Well, our leisurely walk turned into an uphill climb when someone (Leigh!) decided it would be fun to walk on the ski slopes. This one was right before I fell flat on my butt...I guess I am meant to enjoy the snow from indoors.
